SYL Welcomes Additional 15 New Clubs

TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Y League today announced the addition of 15 more clubs for the league's 2015 season, with a number of current PDL and W-League teams choosing to enter the competition for the first time. The PDL's Derby City Rovers, Houston Dutch Lions and W-League's New York Magic will all participate in the league this summer.

Also set to join the league is SC United-Mt. Pleasant, which holds a partnership with historic USL club the Charleston Battery.

"On behalf of everyone here at the Super Y League, we are pleased to announce our next group of new member clubs for 2015," said Gordon Bengtson, Director, U20 & Youth League Development. "We have experienced unprecedented growth for 2015, and the interest and support of the league has been tremendous. Not only will each of these clubs contribute to the overall quality of the league, but they will also play a role in helping expand into different regions and start new divisions."

In all, 16 teams from Major League Soccer, the USL, the PDL and the W-League will now host Super Y League programs as they look to develop players that will have a chance to compete at the next level.

"It is fantastic to see so many of our senior level teams supporting the vertical integration our organization offers," Bengtson said. "More clubs recognize that it is not only vital for the sustainable growth of their first teams but also see the value of our league and its programming. This development is a testament to how strong the league will be in 2015 and also the exciting future for the Super Y League."

Other clubs to join the Super Y League in 2015 include Baltimore Celtic, the Houston Regals, the Tri-State Elite and Homestead Soccer Club. The new additions join 21 new clubs who were announced earlier this year as the league adds to its strong regional structure on the East Coast and the Midwest.

"The continued growth of the Super Y League for 2015 is both encouraging and exciting," said Mike Jacobs, Vice President of League Development. "To be able to add teams that are not only well respected, but also with affiliations with professional clubs in the USL and Major League Soccer speaks volumes for the standard of clubs in our league."
